The world you know no longer exists; yes the lands are still here and many of the cities you built still litter the continents, mostly in ruins. Dense forests have grown up through much of the pavement and broken concrete. The great wars of man reduced the world to a primitive civilization of tribes. Technology was all but lost as was the power grid that made it all work. It was the final cataclysmic blast that brought on the first Phase Shift; a blast so devastating it ripped open a rift in time space and dimension. It was through this rift that beings and creatures from all parts of the universe, (past, present and future) passed to the ruined Earth. Some species mingled with the humans; others did not. Many creatures sought out seclusion delving deep into the sub-terranian tunnels created by man or to the regions of the planet considered uninhabitable by humans. This rift remained open for many centuries allowing more varied species through and then just as suddenly; it closed.
Thousands of years later a new world was established. Part primitive, partly advanced. Magic, (not the slight of hand tricks), was commonplace, mixing with newly forming technology, we were a new world.
Not all the races were at peace and conflicts, though not cataclysmic, were not uncommon. That is until the dark elves (Drow) emerged from the deepest tunnels to wage war on the outside world. Many races formed an alliance against them and their allies and after several years of war we were
able to drive the Drow back into the darkness. When it seemed that order was reestablished the rift opened once more; allowing the influx of good and evil once again. I am but one of many assigned to stopping the evil, new and old; by whatever means necessary and so I wander the earth to save the future but not forgetting the past.
